A day at Northwind Tower
Every app page in these docs follows the same building through the same day. This page is that day from start to finish, so you can see how the apps hand work to each other — and which ones your own organisation would use.
Northwind Tower is invented. It is a three-floor office in Kuala Lumpur with a lobby and loading bay on Level 1, training and meeting rooms on Level 2, the open plan office, boardroom and server room on Level 3, and a sister warehouse across town, the Northwind Distribution Centre. Everyone in it wears a staff badge, which is how Omaya knows where people are. Every screenshot in these pages comes from it.
The people
| Person | Role | Apps they use |
|---|---|---|
| Aisha Rahman | Facilities Manager | All of them — she runs the building |
| Ravi Kumar | Operations Lead | Toilet Hygiene, Facility, Energy, Compliance, Data Centre, TV Dashboard |
| Daniel Lim | Technician | Facility, Meeting Room |
| Mei Ling Tan | Receptionist | Visitor Management, Meeting Room |
| Siti Nur, Nurul Huda | Cleaners | Toilet Hygiene |
| Hafiz Ismail | Security Guard (day) | Security Watch, Roll Call, Visitor Management |
| Kumar Selvam | Security Supervisor | Security Watch, Roll Call, TV Dashboard |
| Farah Aziz | HR & Safety Officer | Roll Call |
| Jason Wong | Account Manager | Meeting Room, Visitor Management |
Each person sees only the apps they have been given, on the web and in the phone app.
The day
06:10 — Somebody in the server room
Before the office opens, a badge Omaya does not know is heard in the Server Room — a restricted room, watched around the clock. Security Watch raises a critical incident and explains it in plain words.
Hafiz, in early for the handover from Hairul on the night shift, checks the cameras: it is the IT contractor booked for an early job. He resolves the incident as Expected. → Security Watch
07:30 — The guard's board
Hafiz takes over the day shift with the Security Watch board: two critical incidents still open from overnight, one zone without sensor coverage at the loading bay. He acknowledges both and sends Kumar to look at the loading-bay gateway. → Security Watch
08:00 — The cleaning round
Siti and Nurul open Toilet Hygiene on their phones. The L3 Male Toilet is at the top of the toilet list, marked Go here next — 42 visits since its last clean — so Siti starts there. Walking in with her badge claims the job; after six minutes inside it closes by itself, confirmed by her badge, and the toilet's visit count starts again from zero. → Toilet Hygiene
08:45 — Who is coming today
Mei Ling checks today's visitors in Visitor Management: Priya Nair from Northwind Capital at 11:00, already approved; Hannah Ong from Brightline Design at 14:00 to see Jason, still waiting for approval; and a contractor, Marcus Tan of CoolAir Services, tomorrow at 09:00. Aisha approves Hannah from her phone. → Visitor Management
09:00 — A room for a client call
Jason books Huddle Room B in Meeting Room. The Boardroom is already taken for the 15:00 review. If nobody turns up to a booking, the room's sensor notices and the room is released for someone else. → Meeting Room
09:20 — Water on the table
Daniel finds the aircon in Huddle Room A dripping. He reports it from the Facility app with a photo; Aisha approves it, and it becomes Daniel's job. → Facility Management
10:12 — The server room warms up
The Server Room passes 27 °C. Aisha gets the alert; Ravi opens Energy Monitoring and the Data Centre view to see whether the cooling or the load changed. → Energy Monitoring · Data Centre
11:00 — The October fire drill
Farah starts a fire drill in Roll Call. Forty-two people are expected at the car-park assembly point. As their badges are heard there they are counted present; Farah marks the rest by hand from her phone. Everyone is accounted for in nine minutes. → Roll Call
14:00 — Hannah arrives
Hannah Ong reaches reception. Mei Ling checks her in, and Jason, her host, is told she is here. → Visitor Management
14:30 — A delivery at the warehouse
At the Northwind Distribution Centre, a delivery for purchase order PO-1042 is received in Warehouse: each box scanned and labelled, sampled for quality, then put away in a suggested bin. → Warehouse
16:00 — The month so far
Ravi reviews this month's electricity use in Energy Monitoring, net of what the rooftop solar made and with its cost, and the indoor-air-quality report in Compliance Reports that goes to the building owner. → Energy Monitoring · Compliance Reports
All day — The lobby screen
The TV in the lobby runs a TV Dashboard board: which meeting rooms are free and until when, which washrooms are clean and which are due, who is expected today, and a message line — during the drill it reads Fire drill this month: assemble at the car park. → TV Dashboard
