Recipes

Omaya is a set of parts: sensors that report, places they belong to, rules that watch them, actions that do something, data tables that keep a log, and reports that add it up. The guides explain each part. The recipes put them together to answer a question someone in your building is actually asking.

Each recipe gives the question, the hardware, the rule (or rules), what the rule does, how to read the result, and where it goes wrong.

The pattern behind every recipe. A sensor reports → a rule notices → an action happens (someone is told, a work order is raised, a device is switched, a row is written) → a report adds it up. When a question has no ready-made report, the row in a data table is what makes it answerable.

Counting people

How many women and how many men used the toilets, with one door counter and one PIR?Toilet visits by gender

Which meeting rooms get stuffy?Space and occupancy → stuffy rooms

Saving energy

QuestionRecipe
Can the lights and air-conditioning go off when a room empties?Energy → switch off empty rooms
What is left running at night?Energy → out-of-hours power
Is a floor using more than it usually does?Energy → a floor using more than usual

Keeping the building running

QuestionRecipe
The cold room or the server room is warming upMaintenance → too warm
Water on the floorMaintenance → leak
A gateway goes down at night and nobody knowsMaintenance → gateway down
A noisy area, with evidenceMaintenance → noise log
A sensor behaving strangelyMaintenance → anomalies

And when you know what you want but not which part does it: Tips and tricks.

Or let OAIA build it

With OAIA on, describe the question and the sensors you have in the assistant. For a question the built-in reports cannot answer, it proposes a data table, the rules that fill it and the report, and builds all three when you press Apply. The recipes here are what it builds, written out, so you can check its work or build it by hand.
